June 2022 - June 25th: Crosby Street Hotel Art Walk

Firmdale Art Walks
at Crosby Street Hotel
25th JUNE 2022

Art Walks have returned to New York City. Join us for a private guided tour of Crosby Street Hotel's renowned art collection, which has been carefully curated by Founder and Creative Director of Firmdale Hotels and Kit Kemp Design Studio, Kit Kemp.

Kit Kemp’s passion for art is present within the design of all Firmdale Hotels in both London and New York; famous paintings and sculptures are juxtaposed beside pieces by up-and-coming artists. Crosby Street Hotel's collection includes Fernando Botero's iconic 12-foot cat sculpture, welcoming guests at the entrance of the hotel, a dramatic painting by Anselm Kiefer and Justine Smith's unique sculptural dogs.

Guests will be guided through the hotel's collection by artist Lyora Pissarro, before journeying on a walking tour of some of Tribeca and Chelsea's most prestigious galleries. Each tour will be unique as Lyora will arrange exclusive visits to inspiring and current exhibitions by both renowned names and emerging talent.

Our art walks last approximately 2 hours and the tour will conclude at Crosby Street Hotel, where guests can choose to enjoy a light lunch in The Crosby Bar. Choose a dish from the seasonal lunch a la carte menu with a tea, coffee or juice.

Please note that on arrival guests should make their way to reception to check in for the tour and provide identification and proof of a COVID-19 vaccination.

ABOUT Lyora Pissarro

French artist Lyora Pissarro has been painting since the age of 4. Taught by her mother through a lineage passed down over five generations. Her work is both figurative, abstract and rooted in painting. Currently based between New York and London, Lyora completed her formal education at Hunter College in NYC, after doing her foundation year at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

The dreamlike landscapes of Lyora Pissarro’s works have in common her embrace of her artistic heritage. Incorporating both traditional techniques and modern technology in a constant attempt to better refract the layers of aesthetic language developed over generations of artists.

Amongst her strong training in painting, Lyora was also submersed into both the art market and academic theory in art from a young age. Her experience spans from art dealing in galleries and high-end art fairs around the world, as well as having worked for a curatorial and architectural firm Parallel in NY, a company building museums to house private art collections. Discussing art was the only subject around her dinner table growing up. Lyora is currently preparing for her first solo exhibition that will take place at The Amangiri in Utah in January.
