Join us at The Soho Hotel for an intimate talk with Willow Kemp, Firmdale Hotels Art Ambassador and Design Director in conversation with Per Emanuelsson and Bastian Bischoff, the visionary duo behind the Stockholm-based art studio Humans since 1982.

Known for their poetic and meticulously engineered artworks that merge technology, design, and conceptual art, Humans since 1982 transform familiar objects - most famously clocks - into choreographed, kinetic installations that question our relationship with time, control, and systems. Firmdale Hotels is delighted to feature several works by the duo, most notably their ‘A Million Times’ series at Ham Yard Hotel and Crosby Street Hotel, New York.

Their latest work has been installed at The Soho Hotel, which you will have chance to view on the evening of the talk.

During this insightful conversation, Willow, Per and Bastian will explore:

  • The evolution of Humans since 1982’s practice and how their backgrounds evolved into an interdisciplinary artistic practice
  • How they use movement, repetition, and data to create hypnotic, time-based works
  • Their collaboration with Firmdale Hotels and the role of art in shaping the character of hospitality spaces

You will have the opportunity to hear behind-the-scenes stories, gain insight into the making of their large-scale installations, and take part in a Q&A session.

A cocktail/non-alcoholic drink will be served on arrival before the talk begins at 6:15pm, lasting approximately 30 minutes. Willow, Per and Bastian will be available for questions and conversation after the talk.
