Just streets away from the townhouses where the Bloomsbury Group once gathered, Charlotte Street Hotel continues to pay tribute to the influential circle of twentieth-century artists at every opportunity.

Original artworks and ceramics by Roger Fry and Vanessa Bell, leading figures of the Omega Workshops, complement the hand-painted mural across Oscar’s walls, lending the hotel a richly layered sense of cultural storytelling.

Our newly designed Bloomsbury Group Afternoon Tea reflects the tastes and habits of the group as captured in handwritten notes, sketches, letters, and journals. Look forward to the likes of:

Charleston Tipsy Chicken Slider

As found in Frances Partridge’s scrapbook, this recipe recommends marinating the chicken in a splash of gin to tenderise it, creating the distinctive taste that made it a favourite at Charleston House.

Trinity Cream Tart

As remembered by Lytton Strachey from his years at Trinity College, Cambridge, this crème brûlée-style pudding was transformed after a college cook burnt the college’s coat of arms into its caramel top. It was thereafter known as ‘Trinity Cream’ and remains on the menu today.

Clive Bell's Chocolate Delice

Described by those closest to him as both a ‘country gentleman’ and a ‘Paris decadent’, Clive Bell cultivated a personality of striking contradictions. This richly indulgent creation echoes those many layers and is a nod to his love for chocolate.

Bloomsbury Cocktail Menu

Reminiscent of the salons, shared tables, and late-night gatherings that defined the lives of the Bloomsbury Group, this new collection of cocktails follows the rhythm of an evening.

From bright aperitifs featured in Prelude to thoughtful nightcaps from our After Dark Salon, each cocktail celebrates the lively nature of the group. Discover creations including Café Bell with Vivir Reposado Single Cask tequila, walnut orgeat, Beesou honey aperitif, espresso and chocolate bitters.
