Learn to paint interiors in watercolor and mixed media with SJ Axelby, artist, author and host of the cult weekly painting challenge 'Room Portrait Club'.
Join SJ for a special workshop where you will create your own interior portrait from a selection of Firmdale Hotels' rooms and vignettes. The class is tailored to the skills of the participants, from beginners to those well versed in watercolor, there will be plenty to learn and enjoy. For those new to it all, SJ will guide you through the basics of painting interiors in watercolor; teaching you how to mix and blend colours, create flawless colour washes, pick out patterns, and discover clever tricks and shortcuts to create a soulful interior portrait. You will end with a beautiful painting of your own to take home and display.
All returning painters will find fresh inspiration, new scenes, and more to explore!
ABOUT SJ AXELBY
SJ has a degree in textile design which influences her love of pattern, colour and all things interiors. Her book ‘Interior Portraits’ celebrates the interiors of some of the world’s leading creatives which includes a foreword by Firmdale Hotels' Founder and Creative Director Kit Kemp. Her second book Painted Travels features the Whitby Hotel in New York and the Ham Yard Hotel in London.
