In the Screening Room at Charlotte Street Hotel, from 7pm

Throughout 2020, Charlotte Street Hotel will partner with the world’s only global arts club, The Cultivist, to host an exclusive film series followed by expert Q&As which will explore the world of contemporary art through film.

The series will kick off with a special screening of Kusama Infinity which explores the life and art of internationally renowned Japanese artist and the queen of polka dots, Yayoi Kusama, followed by an expert led Q&A by Louisa Buck. Louisa is a leading British art critic and contemporary art correspondent for The Art Newspaper. Alongside providing regular commentary for BBC TV and radio, she has written several books and sat on the Turner Prize judging panel.

In April, watch Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict, a portrait of an extraordinary patron of the arts who transformed a modest fortune into one of the premiere collections of twentieth century art.

The series will culminate on 27 November with a documentary about infamous performance artist, Marina Abramovic. The Artist is Present explores the complex relationship between artist and audience, pushing past perceived limits of the body and mind.

Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present
Friday 27 November

Seductive, fearless, and outrageous, Marina Abramovic has been redefining what art is for nearly 40 years. Using her own body as a vehicle, pushing herself beyond her limits – and at times risking her life in the process – she creates performances that challenge, shock, and move us. The documentary follows the artist as she prepares for what may be the most important moment of her life: a major new retrospective of her work, taking place at New York's Museum of Modern Art.
