Learn how to produce your own watercolor masterpiece as Lyora Pissarro guides you in an exclusive workshop, helping and inspiring you to create something beautiful to take home.

You will find inspiration in a private tour of The Whitby Hotel's renowned art collection which has been carefully curated by Kit Kemp, Founder and Creative Director of Firmdale Hotels and Kit Kemp Design Studios. The collection includes Stephen Cox RA’s alabaster plinths, Hermione Skye’s vast rainbow-hued loom woven above the reception and the shadowy figure of 'Father Time', redrawing the clock hands on Maarten Baas’s Real Time: Grandfather Clock. Witty and entertaining artworks fill the adjoining Whitby Bar from Ramiro Fernandez Saus’s tale of dogs and birds overlooking the sea to paintings by Carla Kranendonk, Nicola Clarke and framed collections of ‘Haircuts of Hackney’ illustrations by Daniel Frost. Descend to the hotel’s private event spaces where a stairwell lined with Kate Blee’s joyous Tribe print and artworks by pop-art icons Joe Tilson and Jim Dine set the scene.

Lyora Pissarro

French artist Lyora Pissarro has been painting since the age of 4. Taught by her mother through a lineage passed down over five generations. Her work is both figurative, abstract and rooted in painting. Currently based between New York and London, Lyora completed her formal education at Hunter College in NYC, after doing her foundation year at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). The dreamlike landscapes of Lyora Pissarro’s works have in common her embrace of her artistic heritage. Incorporating both traditional techniques and modern technology in a constant attempt to better refract the layers of aesthetic language developed over generations of artists. Amongst her strong training in painting, Lyora was also submersed into both the art market and academic theory in art from a young age. Her experience spans from art dealing in galleries and high-end art fairs around the world, as well as having worked for a curatorial and architectural firm Parallel in NY, a company building museums to house private art collections. Discussing art was the only subject around her dinner table growing up. Lyora is currently preparing for her first solo exhibition that will take place at The Amangiri in Utah in January.
